Ana L. Valdés was born in the fifties in Montevideo, Uruguay.After 11 years of German Convent School she began revolting against the school and her parent’s values by joining the tupamaros guerrilla. For this she was charged and imprisoned for four years and subsequently exiled to Sweden.
Ana writes about the Internet and culture for Dagens Nyheter, the largest daily newspaper in Sweden.
Ana has also written many short stories, a novel and a Poetry Collection. Some of her stories were translated into English and published by Serpent's Tail. They are the anthologies Columbus Egg, 1992 and The Garden of the Alphabet, European Storytellers, 1994/1995. Her newest book The Internet and Women is about to be published. In addition Ana translates Swedish literature into Spanish as well as collects 'cruel' recipes for yet another book about cultural history of foods. Member of The Swedish Penclub.
